A New Experiment
Normally, I would post an excerpt and then link to the article, but as you can see below, that might not work. Kirk Love is trying something different:
Overwhelmed by endless Feeds online I’m trying something new with this blog. It will only contain one post at a time. When updated the old post will be deleted and won’t be archived. There will also be no tags, follower counts, comments, analytics, or even Likes. Overall, it’s insanely simple. Even the design.
This new format is most definitely an experiment and it may even change over time. Though it’s something I’ve been mulling around in my head for awhile. Something incredibly simple, utilitarian, and focused. I think it accomplishes all that. I hope you continue to visit and check it out. Feel free to drop me a line and let me know what you think. Best.
It’s a fascinating idea, but I wonder a couple of things (which I’m sure Kirk has thought of, but still):
1. one of the main reasons I like writing is to have an archive of my thoughts, both for myself and others. While I can appreciate having a “this is my thought” (like “this is my jam”) that highlights one and only one thing, what becomes of all those thoughts you’ve put in time to and then deleted?
2. I assume Kirk is archiving his stuff elsewhere, but what does this to the web-aspects of the web? I can link to this, but as soon as he posts a new thought the link makes no sense.
A fascinating idea, and something that I think will get more and more popular, but probably not as extreme as this.
