Informal but informative question for you:

I produce a morning radio show that airs for 2.5 hours, five days a week from 6 to 8:30 am. Realistically, not everyone is going to listen to the whole thing live.

What sort of catch-up version are you be most likely to use? A stream/podcast of the full show OR selected highlights? Or… nothing?

Thanks.

Just sent this email to Tumblr. Glad to see I’m not the only person being hit with this, but…
I just received this email:

"We’re writing to let you know that, due to repeated uncontested notifications of copyright infringement against one or more of your blogs, your Tumblr account is one more uncontested notice away from termination. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS A FINAL WARNING."

I replied saying I had not received any DMCA notices that I could think of, then remembered this: back in October of last year, I received this email:

“Dear akurjata,We’ve received a notification of alleged copyright infringement against one of your blogs, sent to us by Jeremy Banks, related to audio recordings by: DAUGHTRY, TOBY KEITH, SPICE GIRLS, KEANE & RADIOHEAD . The post in question was located here, http://a.tumblr.com/tumblr_mnb9moNO6T1qaz88jo1.mp3, and has been removed pursuant to legal requirements and Tumblr’s copyright policies. You can learn more about our policy against copyright infringement here, http://www.tumblr.com/policy/en/terms_of_service#dmca, and here http://www.tumblr.com/policy/en/community.”

When I received this, I had no idea what was going on, since I’ve never posted audio recordings by any of the listed artists (still haven’t). A quick Google search revealed that other Tumblr users were receiving the same, equally irrelevant message. So I basically ignored it.

Now regretting it, since it will apparently result in my account (possibly?) being deleted, but I’m hoping you can work with me to figure out what can be done. If there are legitimate DMCA notices, happy to comply (I’ve stopped posting audio altogether, basically) but not much I can do if the claim is against something that doesn’t exist.

What the fuck, Tumblr?
If indeed my site gets taken down, here’s my goodbye note:

Seeing as there is no link to said content or possible explanation behind this, I am forced to stop blogging on nedhepburn.tumblr.com.
Multiple users who have been on the platform for a while have gotten the same email. It seems that a few people are waging war on content using these tools.
Unless this gets resolved soon, I’ll try and start a new account under a different name. Hopefully it gets figured out, as I have all my work on here. Until it does, though, consider this my final post. It’s been a fun 7 years.
Best,
